DESCRIPTION
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires equipment to be inspected “prior” to each use by the person that is actually going to be wearing/using the equipment. That means, BEFORE a worker uses a harness that worker must inspect it for any type of wear, damage or other deterioration and defective components must be removed from service.
Fall protection equipment saves lives, but only if it is undamaged, in proper working condition, and installed and applied correctly. Thorough and accurate inspection of fall protection equipment is an incredibly important component of maintaining worker safety.
The Equipment Inspector Class is intended especially for those who are responsible for inspecting a large amount of fall protection equipment on a frequent basis, such as a Competent Person for a large job site, safety inspectors or supervisors, and those tasked with system installation or re-certification. This class provides students with hands-on opportunities to inspect a wide range of equipment, and practice resolving equipment issues in real-world scenarios.
